Over 120 years of engineering tradition, certifications and continuous innovation.

  1. 1897
    The company “Atelierele Grivița” (Central Railways Shops) is established, repairing steam engines and wagons.
  2. 1941
    Production & repairing facility for railway products and systems during World War II.
  3. 1945
    Renamed “Grivița Roșie” under the communist regime; continued repairs for steam engines and 4-axle railway wagons.
  4. 1961
    Factory modernization and enlargement; creation of the process equipment manufacturing division.
  5. 1968
    “Grivița Roșie” becomes an independent manufacturer of process equipment; first ASME authorization obtained and ASME pressure vessels integrated.
  6. 1979
    New workshop implemented for thick-wall reactors and tire curing presses.
  7. 1982
    First Clean Room established for distinctive special process equipment.
  8. 1986
    ASME authorization to design & manufacture pressure vessels including “U” and “U2” stampings.
  9. 1990
    After the communist regime, the company is restructured as a joint-stock company under the new name “GRIRO”.
  10. 1993
    Authorized by TÜV according to AD Merkblatt HP for distribution to Germany & the EU.
  11. 1995
    Certified by ISO 9001.
  12. 1998
    ASME “S” stamp authorization received, opening further international markets.
  13. 2000
    “Safety Quality License” obtained to export stationary pressure vessels to the People’s Republic of China.
  14. 2003
    Authorized for design & manufacture of boilers and pressure vessels under PED 23/97 / EU Module H & H1.
  15. 2004
    Additional license for manufacturing special equipment for China: pressure vessels (A1, A2) and boiler parts class A (Steam Drums).
  16. 2005
    GRIRO becomes a private company (international & local investors). A 5-year investment program introduces new-generation technologies (welding, rolling, NDE).
  17. 2007
    New facility workshop added for expanding plate manufacturing.
  18. 2008
    Start of a new factory modernization phase.
  19. 2009
    Acquisition of a 4-roller CNC plate rolling machine.
  20. 2010
    New turnkey projects go live (water treatment, renewable energy). Stronger quality control: endoscopy, radiography (X-Ray), TOFD.
  21. 2011
    Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implemented.
  22. 2013
    Dedicated Project Management Department improves communication and customer relationship.
  23. 2015
    Authorized to design & manufacture pressure boilers and vessels according to PED 2014/68 / EU Module H & H1.
  24. 2017
    GRIRO recognized as a high-quality brand in high-pressure equipment & heat exchangers for oil & gas, chemical, petrochemical, and energy industries.
  25. 2019
    Delivery of the world’s biggest Steam Drum: 210 tons, 25 m length, 2.7 m diameter, Arauco Mill, Chile.
  26. 2021
    GRIRO joins the Romanian Atomic Forum – ROMATOM Association as a sustaining member.
